Bali – Ubud

Apologies for the lack of posts, I have been swept away by the beauty of Perth and haven’t got around to sitting at a computer! Anyway, last week, I traveled to Ubud to meet my mum (who was en route to Australia) for five days of relaxing and sightseeing. I’m very close to my mum and after not seeing her for 6 months made the reunion in Denspasar airport very emotional! Eventually, we made our way to a hotel called Honeymoon Guesthouse  which is owned by Casa Luna, a famous cooking school in Bali. This hotel is in the perfect location, right in the centre of all the hustle and bustle of shops and restaurants in Ubud.

What we did in our 5 days:

Tegalalang Rice Terrace is a 45 minute drive out of Ubud town centre. These terraces were beautiful and well worth visiting! I would advise anyone going, to wear trainers or foot wear with a grip, as there is some slippy climbing to do!

Holy Spring Water Temple was beautiful and incredibly peaceful. We were told that the water has a healing power to it, and for that reason, the balinese go there to cleanse themselves of their sins before going into the temples to do their ritual prayers.

Sacred monkey forest sanctuary is definitely worth a visit, although be aware that the monkey’s are little frisky / temperamental! We got caught in a large thunderstorm, so didn’t stay as long as we wanted to walk around the whole forest.

Pomegranate cafe for drinks, dips and sunset is an absolute must in Ubud! Watching the beautiful Bali sunset over the rice fields was magical. We didn’t stay for dinner, but enjoyed a glass of rosè with pitta and hoummas.

Massages, massages, massages! My mum and I wanted to be pampered, and there was nothing better than visiting the Rouge Spa for this wonderful task.

After relaxing for 5 days in Bali, I got on a plane back to Perth and my mum went on to see my sister in Newcastle (Australia)! My whole family and I will be meeting back in Bali in 2 weeks time for my little sisters wedding – very exciting!!

Thanks for reading, hope you all have a lovely week!
