Barcelona – Majestic Hotel

Hello wonderful people, as always I am so thankful for you stopping by – I hope this post is useful for you in someway, whether you’re planning a trip to Barcelona, or just interested in reading about my experience. Enjoy! x

Last week my friend and I decided to take a ‘city break’ to the busy streets of  Barcelona – where we had the privilege of staying at one of the most iconic hotels, the Majestic Hotel and Spa.

The name of this hotel hits the nail on the head in every way, as they did everything in their power to make this experience unforgettably majestic. The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, helpful and accommodating – serious *5 service at it’s best.

This wonderful hotel was opened in 1918 and sits in the heart of the bustling streets, and is a stones throw away from the Casa Batlló – Gaudi’s first masterpiece, La Ramblas – the tourist haven, Boqueria market and La Pedrera.

Majestic Hotel also boasts a beautiful terrace called La Dolce Vitae, which definitely has some of the best views of the city. On this terrace, there is a pool, sun lounges, and dining area for dinner and lunch. Every night at La Dolce Vitae there is a live DJ who pumps out soul, disco and house music. It’s the perfect place to enjoy those magical sun downers.

We were in staying in a Junior Suite, which consisted of one large king bed, a separate seating area, walk in wardrobe, one large bathroom with a tub, separate shower and two toilets. Our wonderful balcony’s had a panoramic view of Paseo de Gracia and the mesmerising Casa Batlló.

Breakfast, well… where to start. Who doesn’t love delving into a buffet breakfast!?

The thing that’s so wonderful about a buffet breakfast is you can indulge yourself way more than you would your normal breakfast. My average breakfast would normally consist of some fruit, bit of yogurt and gronala (very boring). But with a buffet breakfast, you can’t help but have the FULL works, why wouldn’t you if it’s all there? However, there was a moment my friend and I looked at each other and mutually thought the same thought… (as we dove head first into our sixth plate) “do you think anyone will notice if we go up again??” The answer is NO, as everyone does exactly the same thing.

Downstairs in the hotel is a large elegant reception which sits ajar to a cosy seating area, with a bar. Perfect place to have those evening aperitifs after an evening out in Barcelona.

I honestly had no idea what an awesome place Barcelona is, and it is now up there as one of my new favourite cities. The atmosphere is buzzing, and although slightly over crowded touristy places normally freak me out, we were always able to find a quiet street with no-one there but a little café.

We were only there for 3 days, but this is plenty of time to visit everything touristy. However, I wouldn’t of said no to a few more pool days at the hotel but the city trip wasn’t about that. We wanted to experience the Spanish culture and I can safely say, I’m  going on a gelato-free-diet for a while…

One thing I HIGHLY recommend doing (if you’re visiting in the height of summer) is booking tickets to everything you want to see. We failed miserably at this and had to endure long queues.

Huge thanks for Majestic Hotel and Spa – it wouldn’t have been the same staying anywhere else. I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
